Image Quality Evaluation Method of Intraocular Lens Based on Wavefront Aberration and MTF

We propose a method based on wavefront aberration and the modulation transfer function (MTF) to assess the imaging quality of intraocular lenses (IOLs). Based on the simulation results, we constructed an experimental measuring apparatus that transforms the measured Zernike coefficient into the MTF. The results demonstrate that the imaging quality trend was the same, and the image quality of single focal IOLs with +19.0D was better, despite the simulation results having a large error value compared to the actual data. Therefore, wavefront aberration and MTF can be used to effectively evaluate the imaging quality of IOLs.
