By monitoring the state of polarization of cables belonging to the MedNautilus submarine system in the Mediterranean Sea, we unambiguously observed the signature of the recent $M_w$ 8.8 Kamchatka earthquake in two different cables. A clear precursor of the earthquake is observed in one of the cables.
