In this work, the general temporal phase unwrapping (TPU) algorithm is described as a weighted sum of wrapped phases, followed by a rewrapping process to remove integer multiples of 2π. Then, we propose dual-sensitivity phase unwrapping using the scalar relation between a synthetic non-wrapped estimation and one of the high-modulation phases. This two-stage approach allows TPU algorithms to preserve the original signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). An optimized method considering the relative phase modulations is also proposed, allowing us to successfully use TPU in conditions where fixed-coefficients algorithms would fail. Mathematical derivation, numerical simulations and experimental results are presented.
